Press Release: Bro. Jacky Connell Releases His First Book Painkillers
Press Release For Immediate Release: Bro. Jacky Connell Releases His First Book Painkillers: Where Do You Run When You’re in Pain?
Pell City, AL — During his 30-year preaching career, many people have asked Bro. Jacky Connell of Eden Westside Baptist Church, “Why don’t you write a book?” His answers varied. I don’t have time. I don’t write. That’s not my thing. But last year, he surprised everyone, including himself, when God spoke to him about penning a book based on an upcoming teaching series he was working on called Painkillers. Bro. Connell believed it was time he broke down and wrote that book.
Bro. Jacky Connell Releases His First Book Painkillers
Painkillers isn’t just radically different from what Bro. Connell usually preaches; it’s radically different from most anything you’ll hear from any pulpit today. As the title indicates, the book does deal some with our current drug epidemic, including the devastating opioid crisis that is claiming lives at a heart-stopping rate of more than 42,000 people per year . Painkillers talks about a myriad of unhealthy, potentially dangerous things we run to when we’re in pain, causing us even more hurt and heartache in the long run.
Have you ever tried to escape hurt by isolating yourself from others? That’s the painkiller of isolation. Have you ever known anyone who responded to pain by intellectualizing, trying to outsmart their hurt, instead becoming judgmental and condescending toward others? That’s the painkiller of intellectual sabotage.
In the book, Bro. Connell discusses a variety of painkillers we escape to when we’re hurting, including intoxication, insecurity, idolatry, and others. If you or anyone you know is having unhealthy responses to their hurt and heartache, the book Painkillers just might be their ticket back to emotional, mental, and physical health, happiness, and prosperity.
Painkillers: Where Do You Run When You’re in Pain?
The book does a magnificent job of helping people understand that they aren’t alone. Though no one else has been through exactly what they have, everyone has pain and suffering in their lives. There’s no way to escape it. But how you respond to your pain makes the difference in coming out okay and sinking even deeper into sorrow by engaging in one or more of these dangerous painkillers.
The Painkillers book has just been published and is already available online at Barnes & Noble as well as Amazon. The companion study guide is also available. This duo may be used to dive right into this subject in small groups as well as individual application. Bro. Connell is also making himself available to lead Painkillers Conferences.
